Champion Health: The Ultimate Guide to Our Favourite Employee Wellbeing Content

We recently launched our new platform and while we have been shouting about all the incredible new features of Wellbeing 3.0, we thought it was the perfect time to highlight some of the amazing employee wellbeing content our platform hosts.

Every piece of content you see on Champion Health is the brainchild of Alice Bagley-Harrison, our Content Production Lead – but she is so much more than that. Alice is a yoga, movement and breathwork teacher, and an experienced workplace health consultant.

She is the person behind all our content and painstakingly creates everything you see and hear – from 1-minute meditations to 7-day programs – with care and often through lived experience.

So, we asked Alice to take us through some of her favourite content, why and how they were created, and their impact on employee wellbeing.

  1. Breaking the Persistent Pain Cycle

The first masterclass Alice created was a passion project for her – born of years of personal experience with chronic pain, as well as plenty of study and practice.

She had heard about Georgie Oldfield MCSP and the whole person, holistic approach to on persistent pain – as pain is a brain-driven process influenced by multiple factors and it can be reduced and even healed.

Alice approached Georgie – a physiotherapist, head of SIRPA and the leader in the field of chronic pain recovery in the UK.

Georgie had worked with Dr. John Sarno in New York who is known as the ‘rockstar of the back pain world’. He developed the original Mindbody Theory – that chronic pain is not due to physical abnormalities but neural pathways that have become learned and sensitised.

This masterclass includes a real story about a patient who went from being nearly wheelchair-bound to fully recovered using the whole-person approach (and working with Georgie).

The whole-person approach can be a little controversial, as chronic pain can come with a lot of emotion attached to it and people can think they are being told that their pain is ‘in their head’, which isn’t true. All pain is real, and pain science shows that your brain learns pain, and it can also unlearn pain.

So, in this masterclass, we look at the story behind the pain and address the root causes, rather than just the symptoms.

  1. How to Make Smarter Money Decisions

After seeing the employee wellbeing data from our Workplace Health Reports, we realised we needed more platform content on financial wellbeing – not only how to manage money well, but also reframing relationships with money.

We approached financial coach and podcast host, Martha Lawton, on how we can help our users demystify money. We wanted to help everyone, no matter their background, income level or circumstances.

This masterclass offers a huge range of easy-to-follow and practical guidance, including the two most important questions every person should ask themselves before spending money.

Martha takes us through the basics of saving and borrowing money, to planning for the longer term, navigating risk and even modern retirement.

  1. Fuel Your Menstrual Cycle

Women often lack education from childhood on how to look after themselves through the different stages of their cycles – in fact, they aren’t given much insight into working with their cycles at all.

A huge part of cyclical health is food. So, we partnered with nutritional consultant and chef, Melanie Hadida, who is an expert in women’s nutrition and hormone health – she even has her own spice company!

In this masterclass, she talks about menstrual cycle tracking, and what foods to eat and when to optimise health and energy throughout each phase of a woman’s cycle.

This was a great way for us to talk about something as important – yet often overlooked – as cyclical health and how it affects every part of a woman’s life – outside and inside of work.

Enjoy this happy hormone tonic recipe on us. You can have this tonic any time of day, any day of the week for a refreshing and re-hydrating way to balance hormones:

  1. Pause for Performance

We can’t talk about our favourite pieces of content without shouting out our Head of Mindfulness, Dr. Sandra McCutcheon, and the incredible program we created together.

The Pause for Performance program focuses on how taking time out of our days to pause and rest can make us happier, healthier and more energised. We look at various types of ‘tactical’ pauses including:

Breathing pause – using breathwork to reboot the mind and body
Movement pause – movement and stretches as medicine
Creative pause – creativity to inspire fresh thinking
Outdoor pause – nature to boost mood and productivity

Dr. Sandra tells us the what, the why and the how behind taking breaks, and likens it to Formula One drivers taking tactical pit stops to improve their speed and performance.

This program not only enhances how we work and our productivity levels, but also optimises how we feel in our lives as a whole.

So, now you know our content experts’ favourite pieces of employee wellbeing content, are you keen on seeing what they can do for your people?

There is something for everyone on the Champion Health platform – no matter a person’s age, stage of life, background or family situation. There is a world of content that not only improves quality of life but keeps people coming back to the platform and prioritising their wellbeing every day – like it’s Netflix or Spotify.

This is, after all, the engagement era.
