Working across 38 countries for over 125 years, Rabobank is a cooperative bank with a mission to tackle societal challenges.
In the competitive world of financial services, providing exceptional service is critical. And key to exceptional service is investment in people.
But despite their best efforts, Rabobank encountered challenges in supporting wellbeing and performance. Existing wellbeing offerings were disparate, leading to lower engagement and a more complicated route for employees to find the support they needed.
Rabobank also needed oversight into the wellbeing needs of their people, before these problems became an issue. They needed a proactive service that united wellbeing and supported their people’s performance.
In short, the team at Rabobank needed to:
- Unite disparate wellbeing services under one roof
- Discover the wellbeing needs of their employees
- Empower employees to support their wellbeing and others
So, Rabobank invested in Champion Health.
Everything in one place
Rabobank prioritise the health of their people through a diverse range of wellbeing services. But they were lacking the ability to bring everything together into one place.
“Before Champion Health, we were a little bit disparate in terms of what we were offering with wellbeing – it wasn’t very well connected,” explains Lisa Ruff, Compensation Benefits Manager at Rabobank.
This disconnection diminished the impact of their wellbeing services. Employees were unsure where to access them, leading to wellbeing issues going unidentified and unsupported.
During their launch, Rabobank integrated these existing services into the Champion Health platform, giving their people an easy-to-access central location for their wellbeing needs.
A tailored approach
The Champion Health platform is tailored to every individual’s unique needs, ensuring the right support is provided at the right time.
Rabobank’s people were now discovering their own personalised health reports, identifying their potential health issues, and learning how to proactively support their wellbeing.
“We have some employees that may be really suffering from mental wellbeing issues – the platform helps us signpost them towards our EAP and let them know that we have resources available if you really are struggling and don’t want to talk to a colleague or manager,” explains Lisa.
Within the Champion Health platform, known as the “Netflix of Wellbeing“, every Rabobank employee follows a personal wellbeing journey – from tailored action plans to personalised guidance and curated content.
“The Champion Health platform gives us options and flexibility. And it allows us to tailor our approach to helping staff, rather than going for a one-size-fits-all approach.
“It covers a very broad range of topics. It allows people to pick what’s relevant to them and allows them to really tailor the engagement that they have,” adds Will.
The result: Rabobank’s people now have easy access to the unique support they need. This means that:
- Parents find masterclasses designed for managing parental stress
- Employees who are struggling to sleep access relaxing sounds and soothing sleep stories
- Those experiencing menopause symptoms are prompted towards actionable advice
“I loved how the platform deals with the areas I want to look at, and the areas I need to address based on my health assessment,” adds Keeley Jones, Recruitment Manager at Rabobank.
“The platform gives our people real room to engage as and when they want, at the time that really matters to them. Different things will be important at different times, and being able to choose how and when they engage in a relevant way is one of the best long-term benefits from Champion’s platform,” reflects Will.
Data-driven insight
While their colleagues explored their personal wellbeing action plans, Rabobank’s people team dived into the data.
Using Champion Health’s expansive leadership dashboards – filled with anonymised and aggregated data – the team at Rabobank gained unbeatable oversight across all areas of wellbeing. This includes data on stress, sleep, musculoskeletal health, menopause and more.
Rabobank’s leaders used their Company Health Report to:
- Identify the specific wellbeing needs of their employees
- Measure the impact of their workplace health strategy over time using data
- Filter data by location and department to gain granular wellbeing information
“The insight that we get from our Company Health Report is really valuable for the team. We can identify the top issues that employees are facing and discuss that with the management teams of those areas,” says Lisa.
By utilising the data-driven insights from their Company Health Report, Rabobank’s leaders implemented a proactive and reactive strategy to support their people.
Workplace wellbeing beyond the workplace
Everyone is supporting someone outside of work. That’s why organisations must extend their wellbeing offerings beyond the workplace.
Through the Friends & Family feature, Rabobank’s leaders are empowering their employees to share platform access with three loved ones.
“Employees have shared it with their other halves or teenage kids – I’ve shared it with my daughter. It’s a really useful tool when people worry about friends and family – it’s something they can offer to them as a support,” says Lisa.
Through Friends & Family, Rabobank leaders are expanding the reach of their wellbeing support, providing something valuable for employees to share with those they care about. This investment is creating positive results inside the workplace too.
“We can extend the value that the platform offers beyond the employee, into their family and friends.
“We’re very conscious that employees bring their personal lives to work, and being able to provide support to that wider network helps us to manage the health and wellbeing of our employees here as well,” says Will.
Invest in your people
As experts in financial services, Rabobank know where to invest. For them, the answer is clear: invest in your people for a strong return.
“Investing in people is the single most important thing you can do. Allowing the individual to be the best version of themselves is the best investment anyone can make in any part of their business,” concludes Will.
By investing in Champion Health, Rabobank united their wellbeing services, discovered the wellbeing needs of their people, increased the effectiveness of their wellbeing strategy and expanded the impact of their wellbeing offering beyond the office.
As far as these financial services experts are concerned, that’s a sound investment.
