At the age of 12, Harry lost his Dad to suicide. He felt as though he couldn’t talk about what happened and instead decided to hide that part of his life.
But in 2018, one month into a new job suddenly everything changed for Harry after he saw Project 84: an activation to raise awareness of male suicide, led by Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). The number 84 reflected the number of men who take their own lives every single week in the U.K.
“For the first time in my life I started to read about other people who also suffered loss. I started to realise that I wasn’t alone. I took time to think about myself, how I reacted, how I bottled everything up and then I started to think about how many people might also be feeling the same way as me. It was here that I found a purpose,” says Harry.
Now, Harry share his story in hope that nobody will suffer in silence. He does this through Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) and public speaking.
